General
Q. What is the difference between Location Name and Location Type?
A.

When adding a new Location to an address, you’re prompted for a Location Name and Location Type. Location Name has options in a drop-down menu and you can type into the field while Location Type only has options in a drop-down menu.

Location Name is simply a field that helps you and your contractor(s) know which area of the house you’re referencing. For example, if the location is a bathroom and the house has two bathrooms, you would specify with Location Names of “Master Bathroom” and “Hallway Bathroom.”

Location Type refers to the Checklist the address is using. As an example, if Bathroom is selected as the Location Type, only the specs from the Bathroom section of your Checklist will appear for this location.

Q. What is the recommended size for images and logos in my custom header?
A.

HDP4 offers custom headers in reports that are typically delivered to a customer, such as the scope of work reports.

A logo and/or image can be featured in the report header. We recommend a height of 140 pixels and any width that fits. However, your image and/or logo can actually be any size you’d like as long as you make the header area larger to accommodate your image.

Q. I’m trying to add a new Location to my address but the Location Type drop-down menu doesn’t have what I need.
A.

The drop-down menu populates all of the Location Types that are in the Checklist the address is using. If the Location Type drop-down menu doesn’t have what you’re looking for, it’s because those Location Types do not exist in the Checklist the address is using. Click on the Checklist Editor icon (clipboard with a checkmark) at the top left of your screen to add more specs into the appropriate Locations.

If the drop-down menu is completely blank, that means you’re using a Checklist that doesn’t have any specs in it (likely a Checklist that was created while evaluating or learning HDP). You can resolve this issue by changing the Checklist the address is using. To do so, right-click on the address from the treeview (left side of your screen) then select Properties. Pick a different Checklist from the drop-down menu then click OK.

Trial & Pre-Purchase
Q. Is there any difference between the trial and licensed version of Housing Developer Pro?
A.

The trial allows you to test and perform all of the functions of the licensed version. The only difference is that the trial expires after 30 days.

Need more time after your 30 days is up? See FAQ question: My trial expired before I had enough time to test HDP; how do I request an extension to my trial?

Q. After I download and install the trial, what should I do next?
A. We recommend that you first look through the Getting Started guide to get familiar with Housing Developer Pro. You can also refer to the Gilligan Street sample properties to get an idea of how your project will be structured in HDP.

The best way to get familiar with HDP is to try using the software on one of your actual housing rehabilitation projects or make up your own test address.

Call us at 717 356-2300 if you have questions or need help.

Purchasing
Q. What does a license of Housing Developer Pro include?
A.

One license gives one computer access to HDP; you will need a license for each computer that you want to have access to Housing Developer Pro. Your network or server does not need a license.

A license of HDP4 is a one-year subscription which starts on the date of purchase. During the subscription period, you are eligible to upgrade to any new versions released. There is no charge for moving HDP to a new computer if necessary.

Purchasing a license of HDP also includes phone and email support during our normal business hours: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm Eastern Standard Time. You are welcome to Contact Us by email or call 717 356-2300.

Q. How does subscription licensing for HDP4 work?
A.

A subscription license is needed for each computer that you want HDP running on. Your subscription is valid for one year, starting on the date it was purchased.

Does your organization need multiple licenses of HDP? It is ideal to purchase all licenses on the same date so that you can also renew your subscriptions all on the same date. However, if you need to purchase licenses of different dates, just contact us for a quote so we can prorate your subscription to the same renewal date. This makes it easy for your to manage your entire organization’s HDP subscription licenses.

For more information, here’s what’s included with a license of HDP4.
